We had lunch yesterday with Joy Sakata, owner of Joy’s Chocolates. What a great person! She is definitely a front runner in the category of “people we like.” Besides being all together wonderful, her chocolates are beyond delicious. Joy specializes in promoting companies through quality sweets. Whether you need to come up with a unique way to say “thanks” to a client, or really want to make a lasting impact when networking (think chocolate business cards!), consider Joy’s Chocolates.

Found this one is a recent Daily Candy and must say the name does it justice. I LOVE it! Amazing logo, great packaging, cool website – mycurrylove.com – I mean even the navigation buttons are clever. Talk about branding – well done Curry Love! And that’s not all I LOVE…the product is USDA Organic and a member of 1% for the Planet. I had not heard of this organization until I clicked on the beautiful blue logo on the Curry Love Website. What a program…but that’s another blog post all together. But wait here’s the kicker, I haven’t even had my first taste. My LOVE stems soley from the sheer brillance of the branding, packaging & mission of the company. (But perhaps its time to change that, I am a little hungry).

We’d have to give the award for Best Branding at Shecky’s to Fling Chocolates. They had a great booth that featured “The Chateau Fling” and invited you to get your picture taken having a “fling” with a model. Their overall design is fun & flirty and perfectly targeted at the 20-30 something females who were at the event. They gave out product samples (which were yummy chocolate bars with a mere 80 calories!) and cards which then directed us to their website where we could check out our picture and even put it on the cover of a “tabloid” magazine. Talk about consumer interaction! Check out more flingy-ness on the next page… -

I stumbled upon SoyJoy’s website, which explores the history of the soy bean. I know… sounds pretty boring, huh? I mean, come on… soy beans are great and all, but… do I need a time line documenting important dates in the life of soy? After going through this beautifully designed page, the answer is yes. Yes I do. Even though I grew up with a soy bean field literally in my backyard, I never appreciated this tiny plant more than I do now, after perusing this lovely site. Here’s to you, tiny green plant. Here’s to you.Explore for yourself at www.soyjoy.com

April 29th, 2009everything, food, non profit
One of my favorite charities, Heifer International, is joining up with Bloggers Unite to spread awareness of the need to end hunger on our planet. Did you know that:
- More than 500 million people are living in “absolute poverty” and more than 15 million children die of hunger every year.
- The World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the population is underfed and another third is starving.
- In the United States, 46 percent of African-American children and 49 percent of Latino children are considered chronically hungry.
Organizations like Heifer International are the solution. Every day in April, Heifer International is lifting people out of poverty by providing communities with livestock and agricultural training to improve lives and inspire hope. What can you do?
Here’s how you can join our effort:
- Unite with hundreds on April 29 by posting, blogging or tweeting about the need to end world hunger. Selected posts will be featured by Heifer, BlogCatalog; Copywrite, Ink.; and on the future Bloggers Unite blog.
- Give $10 or more to the Bloggers Unite Team Heifer page to help struggling families around the world lift themselves out of hunger and poverty.
- Join the Heifer community. Sign up now and get the latest news and information from Heifer International. You’ll receive monthly newsletters as well as opportunities to support Heifer’s mission.
Please visit www.heifer.org/ to learn more about this great organization.
