Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m working on honing my organizational skills… slowly but surely. The [IN]PLACE System by Peter Walsh (offered through OfficeMax) seems like it could be my answer. True, it’s nothing new: folders, tabs, binder clips, files… but they way in which they present it on their website is sheer marketing genius. A filing system has never looked so sexy! Plus you get to clear off a messy desk with just the click of a mouse… If only real life were so easy…Check out more screen grabs on the next page.

Found this great interactive map on Good this morning illustrating “history’s greatest journeys.” Pretty fun to click around and discover different explorer’s routes… both historical and fiction. I especially found the “Journey To The Center Of The Earth” to be entertaining.

I saw this trailer for Away We Go, and I can’t wait to see it in the theater. The screenplay is by Dave Eggers, my favorite author, and his wife Vendela Vida. The movie itself looks heartfelt, honest, and funny… very characteristic of Eggers’ writing style. And, do I have to mention how pleased I am that John Krasinski is involved? To top it all off, as of this weekend, I’m a new Auntie(!) and feel like this is pretty timely for my brother and his wife.
If you’ve never heard of Dave Eggers (shame!)… go to the next page for a look at some of his books.

Ok, we are obsessed with Skype. Every time I talk on it, I feel like I’m living in the future. I recently talked to my parents and had a 7 minute conversation consisting of, “I can see you! Can you see me?!? I can see you!” The future is here. We can now video chat… oh and it’s free! Grand recently had a Skype phone “business conference” consisting of Heather, myself, and our good friend (and journalist extraordinaire) Joann Groff… alright, so it was less business and more just goofing off on Skype. Check out more amusement on the next page…

We had lunch yesterday with Joy Sakata, owner of Joy’s Chocolates. What a great person! She is definitely a front runner in the category of “people we like.” Besides being all together wonderful, her chocolates are beyond delicious. Joy specializes in promoting companies through quality sweets. Whether you need to come up with a unique way to say “thanks” to a client, or really want to make a lasting impact when networking (think chocolate business cards!), consider Joy’s Chocolates.

I was down in San Diego this past weekend and I happened to stumble upon this quirky little beach house. Whoever lives here made me smile with their happy paintings and poems. I don’t think enough people step away from the norm when it comes to the paint job on their home. How could you not pull into your driveway without a grin on your face with a unicorn welcoming you back?

Found this one is a recent Daily Candy and must say the name does it justice. I LOVE it! Amazing logo, great packaging, cool website – mycurrylove.com – I mean even the navigation buttons are clever. Talk about branding – well done Curry Love! And that’s not all I LOVE…the product is USDA Organic and a member of 1% for the Planet. I had not heard of this organization until I clicked on the beautiful blue logo on the Curry Love Website. What a program…but that’s another blog post all together. But wait here’s the kicker, I haven’t even had my first taste. My LOVE stems soley from the sheer brillance of the branding, packaging & mission of the company. (But perhaps its time to change that, I am a little hungry).

May 29th, 2009design, environment, everythingI’ve been seeing this commercial lately for the new Toyota Prius, and I have to say, I love it. It’s managed to make me feel really good about the product, which is odd, because despite being a car that’s better for the planet, I feel like it’s also completely overpriced. Nonetheless, the creators of this spot were very imaginative. The commercial is bright, colorful… and yes, a tad creepy… but in the end, just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Saw a tv commercial the other day for “The Original Social Networking Site” aka Coleman campsites. How great of a concept is that? These days with Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc. taking over… it’s good to remember what actually getting together and having a good time is all about. They also have all sorts of great desktop wallpaper (shown here), print and tv ads on their website. A very clever campaign, indeed. Check out more on the next page. -

We’d have to give the award for Best Branding at Shecky’s to Fling Chocolates. They had a great booth that featured “The Chateau Fling” and invited you to get your picture taken having a “fling” with a model. Their overall design is fun & flirty and perfectly targeted at the 20-30 something females who were at the event. They gave out product samples (which were yummy chocolate bars with a mere 80 calories!) and cards which then directed us to their website where we could check out our picture and even put it on the cover of a “tabloid” magazine. Talk about consumer interaction! Check out more flingy-ness on the next page…
